Announcing "Grounded Carling"

Here it is… our biggest news since we first opened our doors in 2010…

We are opening a NEW GROUNDED at 1545 Carling Ave, in the immaculate Carling Executive Centre. But don’t worry, it will still feel a lot like the OG. We’ll keep you posted on when we’ll be ready to welcome you (planned for November), what our hours will be, and even tease you with some of our menu items. For now, all we can tell you is that the new location (including its beautiful patio) will be as unique and as full of character as you’ve come to expect from us.

We can hardly wait to show you what innovative ideas we have planned for the new place. The phrase “change is on the horizon” is an understatement for our industry. We’re deep into it, and as challenging as it is, there are exciting rides opening. I’ll buy another season pass to this ride and enjoy it yelling; “look ma, no hands!!” 

With this exciting news, comes some harder news. The building Grounded is in now (100 Gloucester) was bought by a condo developer earlier this year. We don't know how much time "original" Grounded has left, but we do understand that the eventual plan is to replace the building with condos. We know that we have some time (hopefully even a few years!), but it's certainly not the long-term vision we had hoped for. As a result, we started planning for what's next… which is what brought us to the Carling location.

A lot has happened in the last 12 years (and still counting) at Grounded, and I’m still learning. Like a lot of things, I never really fully understand what things can mean until after some time has passed. We are emotionally attached to this space. We built it from scratch, and through blood, sweat, and even a few tears, it turned into something I am immensely proud of. But the future can’t be stopped. So, we’re going to build the future of Grounded, starting at the new space on Carling. Again, “for greater clarity” (that’s a popular phrase that I’ve seen while combing the 65-page lease for the new space!) Grounded at 100 Gloucester isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! We’re going to be there serving peace, love and BBQ to our friends, customers and neighbourhood, for a while to come. Eventually, all good things must come to an end… but growth is forever unstoppable. So let’s buckle up for the ride.
